In a special feature published on Flightline UK a few weeks ago, the Abingdon Air & Country Show organiser Neil Porter stated that is was unlikely a full flying display would take place at the event in 2025. This was due to losses incurred during the 2024 event which was postponed from its May date to September due to issues over the status of the Ministry of Defence owned Abingdon Airfield.
Happily however it appears now that at least a small flying display combined with some special flypasts will now take place at the 2025 Abingdon Air & Country Show scheduled for the 14th June.
The event’s latest Facebook post states: “After our postponed event was held in mid September, we put out a statement on 11th October about the changes for the 2025 show (being held on Saturday 14th June) and that there will be effectively a year off from staging the afternoon Air Display program we have successfully organised as part of the overall show for 24 years previously due to rising costs.
However after some recent news and a re-evaluation to look deeper into it all again we are delighted to announce we can now stage a smaller Air Display program during the afternoon aswell as flypasts – lets face it the 25th anniversary show would not be the same without one!. More exciting news on this will be forthcoming from February 2025 onwards“
