UK Airshow Calendar 2027

For 25 years (2000 to 2025), Abingdon Fayre which grew into Abingdon Air & Country Show was one of the UK’s first airshows of the season, which in the twighlight of its years moved more to a mid to late year slot. However in the last few years the show has faced many challenges, not least the sheer costs of running an airshow and having to adapt due to restrictions on civil aircraft to land (out of our control) so lost the popular Fly In ,though military types that use Abingdon for training are allowed to land.

So whilst the airshows are now in the history books and a year out in 2026 to decide what to do, the show will return in 2027 with a slightly revised title ‘Abingdon (Air) Country Show which reflects on a new direction to keep the show alive in being more of the popular Country Show together with a larger Classic Vehicle rally which includes selected club runway and crowdline runs, with limited aviation involvement including numerous military and civilian aircraft flypasts, limited military static aircraft, a Parachuite Display Team display and Radio Controlled model Jets display aswell as an RAF Abingdon reunion for former personnel.

The International Model Air Show will take place on Friday 18th, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th June with a full show line-up of international pilots, model and full-sized aircraft displays, off road and circuit car racing, model boats and helicopters. As well as all the displays taking place there will be a whole host of stalls to see, trade stands, craft fair and plenty of food and drink stalls.

The Lancaster & Morecambe National Services Celebration Weekend which accompanies Armed Forces Day

Portsmouth’s Armed Forces Day event returns in 2027, with displays and events on Southsea Common set for Saturday 19 June.

This special celebration for Portsmouth’s Armed Forces Day will involve parades, music, military vehicles, and a whole lot more. Last year saw a Royal Navy parachute jump, parades, and live music throughout the day.

No tickets are needed, people and families can just turn up and enjoy the event.

Inaugurated in 2016, Heveningham Concours has become one of the finest annual motor car and aeroplane shows. It is held at Heveningham Hall in Suffolk where fifty or so remarkable motor cars are displayed on the garden terraces together with a dozen or so historic propeller aircraft in parkland nearby. At this time, Heveningham Concours also presents Horsepower Hill, a ‘drag race’ along a parkland road, as well as Heveningham Tour, a 50-mile drive for owners through the Suffolk countryside with a stop for lunch. The event takes place at the same time as, and side-by-side with, the annual Country Fair.

Scarborough has held Armed Forces Day annually since 2009. Scarborough hosted the Armed Forces Day National Event in 2022 and this year the intention is host the town’s event once again within the footprint of the South Bay. The day is always popular with both residents and visitors to the area, with attendance prior to the national event of a minimum of approx 20,000+ each year.

The programme on the day will include air assets, parades including marching bands, veterans and cadets and a variety of equipment demonstrations. Exhibitors will include military, charity and cadet stalls and military vehicle displays.

The show was born from a long standing desire of our Chairman John Dale to marry up his love of historic military vehicles, his farm and the desire to generate support for the Military Vehicle Trust and military charities.

The UK’s only Fly-In Airshow. Not open to arrivals by car.

The Battle Proms at Burghley is held on an impressive elevated parkland position overlooking the grand Elizabethan architecture of Burghley House – the perfect setting for an afternoon of sublime music and dramatic displays.

Burghley was built for Sir William Cecil, Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I, between 1558 and 1587. It has featured in blockbusters such as The Da Vinci Code and Pride and Prejudice and last year enjoyed the interest of Julian Fellowes as part of his ‘Great Houses’ series.

The Battle Proms picnic concert takes place in the Queen Elizabeth Oak Field in the leafy parkland at Hatfield House. Legend has it that it was beneath one of the ancient oaks in this field that the young Queen Elizabeth I heard that she was to be Queen of England.

The Old Palace at Hatfield House is where Elizabeth I spent much of her childhood and later held her first Council of State in November 1558. The celebrated Jacobean House has been the family home to the Cecils since it was built in 1611.  A place so steeped in history makes the perfect setting for a summer celebration with the Battle Proms.

Highclere Castle was the seat of the 5^th Earl of Carnarvon who, in 1922, famously discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun with his colleague Howard Carter. More recently, the Castle has become the central character in the ITV period drama ‘Downton Abbey’ which has achieved extraordinary international fame.
