An amazing COVID-SECURE Drive-In evening of fireworks, lasers – a drone light show, aerobatic pyro display by Aerosparx and performance by the ML407 Spitfire
4:00pm – Gates open
We’re open at 4pm, arrive in your car and you’ll be directed to a parking grid that has been perfectly marked out using our robotic GPS line marking robot. We’ve allowed room for you to get out and set up seats next to your car, or if you prefer stay in your car. All socially distanced and within the recommendations of the government for Covid-19 secure events. We pioneered drive in firework events in 2020 and are proud to have produced some of the largest to take place in the UK. You’ll find toilets spaced out, cleaning staff, hand sanitiser stations, food and drink outlets and helpful staff on site. Music will be played over our huge PA system from 5pm and we’ll be interacting with the audience where possible by having a phone in.
7:00pm – Music quiz
We’ll be holding a quiz over the main PA and welcome you getting involved – we plan to engage with people by having a phone in just like a normal radio show.
8:00pm – Spitfire ML407 performance
We’re proud to have not just a Spitfire display but the ML407 Spitfire display at around 8pm. This is subject to CAA permissions and weather and offered as a free element of the proceedings. ML407 is one of the most historically significant aircraft in the world still flying. It was rebuilt by Nick Grace who sadly passed away not long after the initial flight. His wife Carolyn Grace took over the role of flying and keeping Nick’s legacy going. It flew in formation with the Red Arrows – something we think you’ll agree is one of those very special moments.
8:45pm – Aerosparx performance
We’re also proud to have one of the world’s leading pyrotechnic aerobatic display teams – Aerosparx. They will be performing at around 8:45pm and demonstrating their incredible skills lighting up the sky with moving trails of sparks and colour. This is also subject to CAA permission and weather and offered as a free element of the proceedings.
9:20pm – Lasers
We’ve some of the world’s most powerful outdoor laser projectors and they will be drawing lines, beams and shapes in the skyline when it gets dark enough.
9:30pm – Drone Light Show
You’ll witness something very special, subject to weather conditions, the sky will light up with many drones as they fly around the sky creating patterns, shapes and effects in different colours. We believe this is the first ticketed drone show event in the UK and we’re proud to offer this amazing spectacle at the event. Please note this element is subject to weather conditions.
9:40pm – A huge pyromusical firework display
The sky will erupt with fireworks from several locations – you’ll witness an amazing pyromusical display perfectly choreographed with split second accuracy by one of the world’s leading firework display teams.
10:00pm – Event closes

The aim is to excite, enthral and entertain about the past. All proceeds from the festival have, since 2012, been directed to the Chalke Valley History Trust, which promotes the understanding of history to all ages, but especially children.
The Chalke Valley History Festival began in June 2011 on a small scale and as a fundraiser for the local cricket club. Club stalwart and historian James Holland had the idea for a festival but it was James Heneage, founder and former CEO of Ottakar’s bookshops and now historical novelist, who suggested a festival dedicated to history.
It began with the help of a number of local volunteers, among whom Peter Bell and Rachel Holland played a big part in that first year and continue to do so today. Jane Pleydell-Bouverie came on board in autumn 2011 and has been at the heart of the festival ever since. The Daily Mail became the festival’s principal sponsor in 2013, and it now consists of a week of talks, discussions, debates, as well as extensive and immersive living history and historic air displays.
Since 2013, the festival has also incorporated the History Festival for Schools. ‘An understanding of the past is essential,’ says Co-Founder James Heneage, ‘without that, it is impossible to make sense of the present or prepare for the future.’
2017, saw the festival move to a new site of over 70 acres in Broad Chalke, but still in the heart of the beautiful Wiltshire Chalke Valley.

The Battle Proms at Burghley is held on an impressive elevated parkland position overlooking the grand Elizabethan architecture of Burghley House – the perfect setting for an afternoon of sublime music and dramatic displays.
Burghley was built for Sir William Cecil, Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I, between 1558 and 1587. It has featured in blockbusters such as The Da Vinci Code and Pride and Prejudice and last year enjoyed the interest of Julian Fellowes as part of his ‘Great Houses’ series.

The Battle Proms picnic concert takes place in the Queen Elizabeth Oak Field in the leafy parkland at Hatfield House. Legend has it that it was beneath one of the ancient oaks in this field that the young Queen Elizabeth I heard that she was to be Queen of England.
The Old Palace at Hatfield House is where Elizabeth I spent much of her childhood and later held her first Council of State in November 1558. The celebrated Jacobean House has been the family home to the Cecils since it was built in 1611. A place so steeped in history makes the perfect setting for a summer celebration with the Battle Proms.

Event Details
It is with great disappointment and regret, which we know will be shared by many, that we announce the cancellation of the 2021 War and Peace Revival show which was due to be held the 27th to 31st July this year (2021).
Despite the encouraging Government announcement of a possible reopening of events from June 21st, the situation remains fragile and there is no guarantee that large events like the War and Peace Revival can take place.
Following consultation between The Hop Farm, Public Health England and Tonbridge and Malling Council, it has been deemed that due to the scale and location of the show it is not possible to proceed with the event this year.
The health and safety of all those involved in the event and the local community remains top priority and the level of operational and public health risk posed by the show was agreed by all concerned to be a risk!
We are extremely disappointed to have to cancel for the second year in a row as our event forms a major gathering of the year for so many people.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the War and Peace Revival community for your valued and trusted support over the years.
We will return to the Hop Farm on the 26th-30th July 2022!
