The French Wing of the Commemorative Air Force has announced it will be touring some of the UK’s major airshows in from late June to the end of July with it’s Piper J3C-65 Cub F-GHLQ. This aircraft has been finished in the colours of a Piper NE-1 serving with the US Navy’s Airship Patrol Squadron ZP-32 in June 1943. Invited by British members of the CAF’s Dallas Fort Worth Wing, with support from Henry Simpson, the aircraft will be based at IWM Duxford during its tour.
The events the aircraft will visit include:
- 27th-28th June – Shuttleworth Festival of Flight, Old Warden, Bedfordshire
- 4th-5th July – IWM Duxford Summer Air Show, Cambridgeshire
- 16th-20th July – Royal International Air Tattoo, RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire
- 23rd July – RAF Marham Families Day, Norfolk
- 24th July – IWM Duxford Americans Flying Day, Cambridgeshire
- 25th-26th July – Old Buckenham Airshow, Norfolk.
