2024 saw just one major air display in the principality, the Wales Airshow held in Swansea Bay. The annual event brings in massive crowds to the South Wales city and ties in with the local council’s contribution to Armed Forces Day.
The 2024 enjoyed strong support from the UK military display teams with the Royal Air Force sending the Red Arrows, Typhoon & Grob Tutor. The other branches of the armed forces were not left out with the Royal Navy Black Cats solo display and a parachute display from the British Army’s Red Devils.
Military history also featured with the NavyWings formation of Fairey Swordfish and Westland Wasp, Hawker Hurricane I, Spitfire PRXIX, Sea King HAR3A, Vampire FB52 and the Gazelle Squadron.
Completing the line-up were some crowd pleasing civilian flying displays led by local favourites, Team Raven. Paul Farmer also returned to display a Yakovlev Yak-50 and further formation aerobatics came from the Firebirds and Starlings.
