The Royal Saudi Air Force’s aerobatic team, the Saudi Hawks celebrated their 25th Anniversary at the World Defense Show (WDS) currently being held just outside Riyadh. At the show, the team are participating in the daily afternoon flying displays with their BAE Systems Hawk Mk.65s alongside the Turkish Stars and the Chinese PLAAF’s August 1st team. The team have become regular participants in major international airshows such as the Royal International Air Tattoo in the UK, the International Sanicole Airshow in Belgium, the Malta International Airshow and Athens Flying Week in Greece.

During WDS, His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud unveiled a BAE Systems Hawk Mk.165 wearing a brand new green, white and silver colour scheme for the team. It is the first of 10 locally produced Hawk Mk.165s due to be allocated to the display team. It is anticipated the team’s current Hawk Mk65s will be replaced by the advanced Hawk Mk.165 over the next two years.
