The Fighter Collection’s Flying Legends Airshow, Europe’s premier warbird and historic aviation showcase, is set to return to the display calendar in 2023 at the new venue of Leeds East Airport, formally RAF Church Fenton. The show will be held over the weekend of 15th-16th July.
Since the last Flying Legends Airshow at IWM Duxford, Cambridgeshire, the Fighter Collection has been looking at alternative venues. In 2021 it had been hoped a revived show would be held at Sywell Aerodrome in Northampton. However, plans for that event fell through with a surge in COVID.
Leeds East Airport last held an airshow in 2015 when the venue hosted the Great Yorkshire Air Festival. The event is still subject to final licensing approval, but should be a welcome addition to the airshow circuit in an area with not too many other major air displays.
