The world-famous Red Arrows return to fly centre stage at Weston Air Festival, as the seaside air show returns on 22 -23 June.
The iconic Red Arrows will be showcasing their all-new 2019 display routine above the shores of Weston on 23rd June, as one of only a handful of Red Arrows displays in the UK this year. The famous Red Hawk Fast Jets will be heading to the USA in July, which will see them display at several stateside air shows – the first time they have so in more than a decade.
The free to attend two-day festival sees hundreds of thousands of visitors flock to Weston-super-Mare to gather on the seafront to witness an astounding line-up or aerial entertainment, as well as enjoy the event village on Weston’s beach lawns.
2018’s Weston Air Festival was the most successful to date, drawing in record crowds of 200,000 and offering air show fans a world class programme of display aircraft including the world famous Red Arrows, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the iconic Douglas C-47 Skytrain.
Russ Currie, Leisure Manager at North Somerset Council said: “Last year we were blessed with a weekend of amazing weather and even better displays. It was a joy to watch the likes of the Red Arrows, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Mustang and more soaring across the seafront.
“It’s events like the Air Festival that firmly place North Somerset on the map and make it a great place to live and visit and we have no doubt the 2019 event will continue to position North Somerset as a destination of choice.”
North Somerset Council has appointed Bristol-based Richmond Event Management to deliver the Weston Air Festival. Speaking of the appointment Russ added: “We are pleased to be working with experienced event organisers Richmond Events again this year after such a successful event last summer.”
As well as a weekend of outstanding entertainment in the sky, Weston Air Festival offers airshow fans the chance to enjoy a whole host of family-friendly fun along the seafront and Beach Lawns and once again incorporates the town’s Armed Forces Day celebrations.
The event village will feature exhibition stands, food stalls, family activities and fairgrounds, as well as the chance to meet RAF crews up close and personal, ensuring there’s plenty to see and do at ground level.
Air displays and further ground entertainment for Weston Air Festival will be confirmed over the coming months, to keep up to date with news and information see the official Weston Air Festival website: www.westonairfestival.com or follow the event on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook @WestonAirFest
