After the huge success of this year’s event, organisers of the spectacular ‘Aero Legends Battle of Britain Air Show” are pleased to announce that next year’s event will be held on Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July, 2018.
It is fitting that this announcement has been made today, being ‘Battle of Britain Day’ when we commemorate all those involved in the large-scale aerial battle that took place on 15 September 1940, during the Battle of Britain.
On this day in 1940, the Luftwaffe embarked on their largest bombing attack yet, forcing the engagement of the entirety of the Royal Air Force in defence of London and the South East, which resulted in a decisive British victory that proved to mark a turning point in Britain’s favour
Headcorn Aerodrome, set in the heart of the beautiful Kent countryside, will again be the fantastic venue and to commemorate the 78th anniversary of the Battle of Britain and the 100th year since the RAF was formed. Joining the show will be Cadets from across the county as well as serving officers and veterans.
Next year’s show will feature more aircraft with multiple Spitfires and Hurricanes and attendance from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF). Along with attractions for all the family including; A funfair, stalls, unrivalled choreographed air displays and flight experiences, this really will be an event not to miss.
On Friday 29th June, schools and press will be invited to have a sneak preview including a tour of the museum. In the evening entertainment in the form of an outdoor cinema will be taking place. On the evening of Saturday 30th June new for next year, a 1940s “Big Band Hangar Dance” will be held.
