Welshpool Airshow
Organisers are anticipating another bumper crowd for the Bob Jones Memorial Airshow on June 19th. In order to get everyone in and out as comfortable as possible and also, in part, to comply with new regulations imposed by the CAA herewith the arrangements for Sunday 19th June.
FREE PARKING is at the Park & Ride at Welshpool Livestock Market 1 mile north of the town off the A483 roundabout. From here a relay of FREE shuttle-buses will ferry show visitors back and to the airfield. The shuttle bus will also stop at Welshpool Tourist Information office and the Railway station.
There is ONLY Premium Parking at the airport. This must be pre-booked. The A490 past the airport will be closed to all traffic and pedestrians all day.
There is no access to Premium Parking from A483. Approach must be made via Leighton and/or Cilcewydd. And all Premium Parkers must be on site by 12pm. Access after 12 o’clock is by Park & Ride buses only.
Meanwhile Air Show Display Director, Peter Sinclair has the following advice :
“The best, and safest, viewing position for the Air Show will always be at the Airport. If you chose to view from any other position, outside the Airport, please act responsibly and take care of your own safety: Do not put yourself in harms way by standing on roads, or under or close to the flight path. It is best to avoid viewing from the Display (Eastern) side of the Airport.”
