Shortly after 8pm BST onthe 29th June, three Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II arrived at RAF Fairford ahead of airshow appearances at the Royal International Air Tattoo and Farnborough International Airshow. They were supported in their transatlantic crossing by two KC-10 Extender tanker aircraft. The crossing itself marks a major milestone for the program as it was the very first for the STOVL F-35B variant. The contingent includes a pair of US Marine Corps F-35Bs from VMFAT-501 and a single F-35B (aircraft BK3) from the Royal Air Force.
