The following press release has been issued by the Dutch Hawker Hunter Foundation.
To our regret, we have to report that the Hawker Hunter jet fighters of the Dutch Hawker Hunter Foundation (DHHF), which are stationed at Leeuwarden Air Base, ill not participate at airshows or other aviation events next summer .
This is due to the decision by the UK Civil Aviation Authority for all hunters under its jurisdiction to remain grounded, pending the results of the investigation into the crash of a Hunter at the Shoreham Airshow in August last year. The Hunters of DHHF are British registered , and therefore fall within the scope of this decision. The investigation into the crash is carried out by the Air Accident Investigations Board and its final report is expected in the second quarter.
We assume that our aircraft can fly again during the second half; therefore they can not participate in the air show season 2016. After lifting the flight ban will be given first priority to maintenance of the Hunters in our maintenance organization in Wales (UK). The aim is that from spring 2017 to both our Hunters will be seen regularly in Dutch airspace
