Display Season 2021 saw the green shoots of recovery as pandemic restrictions on large events and international travel were slowly lifted during the summer. Sadly for many of the big shows held in June, July and early August these came too late. September however saw the return to something approaching normality and several of Europe’s biggest airshows were able to go ahead including the Bournemouth Air Festival and IWM Duxford’s Battle of Britain Airshow in the UK. As in 2020, it was the Shuttleworth Collection and IWM Duxford that formed the backbone to the season with each holding events from May through to October. The season was also an oppotunity for some of the smaller events to shine such as the Midlands Air Festival and the Old Buckenham Airshow.
