2011 was an eventful display season. The season marked the 50th Anniversary of the NATO Tiger Association, the 70th Anniversary of Royal Air Force Search and Rescue and the 75th Anniversary of the Supermarine Spitfire. Sadly however, 2011 will be remembered more for the tragic accident at Bournemouth Airport which claimed the life of Red Arrows team member, Flt Lt Jon Egging. Later in the year after the season had ended the Red Arrows suffered a further loss when Flt Lt Sean Cunningham was killed in a ground accident at RAF Scampton.
