The 2008 Flying Legends Air Show was very memorable to so many reasons. The appearance in the UK of the US based Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress ‘Liberty Belle’ was undoubtedly the biggest headline from the event. There was also significant other international warbird participation with Chris Vogelgesang’s Yakovlev Yak-3 making its debut plus P-51D ‘Nooky Booky IV’ and P-40N Kittyhawk ‘Little Jeannie’ from France. That alone was enough for this to make Flying Legends 2008 a very popular event, but the cancellation of the Royal International Air Tattoo the same weekend super-charged that popularity with Duxford reaching full capacity on the Sunday by 1.30pm!
