RNAS Yeovilton International Air Day 2006
2006 saw RNAS Yeovilton International Air Day return to an early July weekend and benefit from some more summer like weather. It also helped bring in some more international participation with a good showing from the French Navy in the static displays with example of the Alouette III, Lynx HAS2, Super Frelon, Super Etendard and Rafale M. In the air, it was the Belgian Air Force that provided much of the international interest with the F-16AM Fighting Falcon and Fouga Magister solo displays.
The UK Armed Forces also has a strong showing. But as always at Yeovilton it was the combination of Maritime Lynx Demo and the Commando Assault finale that really captured the imagination of the crowd – the latter becoming a true combined forces operation with RAF helicopters joining the Royal Navy to see off ‘the bad guys.’
