Shuttleworth VE Day Anniversary Air Display
Last of the major airshows to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the end of war in Europe was the Shuttleworth Collection’s June Military Pageant display. The anniversary was marked slightly later than other commemorative events to avoid clashing and also to ensure that Old Warden’s newly lengthened runway was ready for the faster, heavier types that featured in the flying display.
Sadly, like other events in early 2005, this air display took place under a dark overcast though did escape poor weather elsewhere in the UK. Sadly, poor weather at RNAS Yeovilton prevented the visit by Kennet Aviation’s Douglas Skyraider and a Grumman Avenger.
