The organisers of this the 26th Shoreham Airshow are delighted to announce that this event has been added to the official RAF Battle of Britain celebrations listings for 2015. “We owe a lot to our dedicated team who have put Shoreham on the map as one of Europe’s Major Aviation Events,” said Derek Harber – Airshow Organiser.
He went on to say, “We plan to make this year’s event a fitting tribute to those who so bravely took to the sky’s to defend our shores. Already our Flying Display Director, Rod Dean is working with many of Europe’s Top Display Pilots to bring some exciting aircraft to Shoreham on August 22nd and 23rd.”
The Airfield Scramble and Attack will be the largest to date with an array of historic fighter aircraft taking to the air together supported by pyrotechnics, and ground support teams. “We were delighted when Flypast Magazine stated that Shoreham had now become the Best UK Warbirds Display venue outside Duxford,” said Rod.
“There will be more set pieces involving display formation flying which went down so well last year! Two eagerly awaited aircraft will be Bristol Blenheim 1 L6739 which has recently been restored by The Aircraft Restoration Company. The Paris based Junkers Ju 52 will also be basing itself at Shoreham. – giving spectators an opportunity to see both aircraft close-up.
The welcome return of the de Havilland Sea Vixen, the only flying airworthy example in the world will add a little noise to Shoreham over both days. There will be several other fast jets participating including the Jet Provost. We try to please all,” added Rod with some enthusiasm.
There will be 50 plus aircraft participating each day in a flying display lasting over 6 hours with a one hour lunch break. Press Officer, John Periam added. “I don’t want to give too much away at this stage. The WW1 Team are back – also from last year, the “Little and Large” Extra Duo which received a standing ovation. Of course we will have the Battle of Britain Memorial Fight with the Lancaster along with many other Military and Civilian Display favourites that have graced Shoreham’s skies over many years.”
Shoreham won many accolades for its 2014 Airshow. Best Family Event in Sussex (Argus Newspaper) – Best family Airshow in the UK (Aeroplane Magazine) and Best Community Event in The South (Johnsons Press). “This will not change,” said Derek Harber. “From a fun fair, which this year will see more of the old traditional rides, vintage cars, look alike’s, harmony singers, trade stands, aircraft simulators, a craft tent along with one of the largest historical static aircraft displays to be seen at any UK Airshow where you can meet the pilots.”
This year we will be working with SOUTHERN RAILWAYS to make access to the Airshow a lot easier by increasing their ‘Train and Ride’ link. Drop off Shoreham Station, and board a free bus to the Airshow. Leave your car at home and travel in style!

Remember Shoreham is a ‘Traditional Airshow’ where you can see the participating aircraft taxi and take off at one of the closest crowd lines for any UK Airshow. Add to that, the backdrop of Lancing College, the Sussex Downs and you have the making of something special and a true family day out!
